ATLANTA
Lutheran Youth Conference at World Congress

Sponsored every 3 years by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America
(ELCA)
July 16, 2003 through July 27, 2003
35,000 young people between the ages of 15 and 18 attended this conference.
It is estimated that close to 2,000 people walked this labyrinth.

create this labyrinth.
The following photos were taken by Joyce Odewahn at a retreat led by the Very Rev. Susan Latimer of St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church in Atlanta and Ron Vinson of North Carolina. The photos show a 7-circuit labyrinth drawn on the beach by Christina Kautz, labyrinth coordinator at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Decatur, Georgia. At the center, Christina drew a heart and cross in the sand but...

...at the end of the day it was discovered that as people walked the labyrinth, they began to bring sea shells into the center placing them in and around the heart. Someone also brought some drift wood from the beach into the center to make the wooden cross.
