The Emory Presbyterian Church
Chalice Labyrinth
PASTOR INSTALLATION
September 16, 2001
At the end of church service, Rev. Brigman invited all the attendees to follow her and the choir to the center of the labyrinth for the final benediction prayers. So, as the choir sang Taize songs, Rev. Brigman led her new congregation to the center of the labyirnth where she offered her benediction.
This was a temporary labyrinth lined with flour. It was a 4-circuit adaptation of the regular 6-circuit Chalice Labyrinth with 2 1/2' wide paths and a 9'x 14' center. The entire labyrinth (except for the extended Chalice stem) fit under the 30' x 30' tent.
The bottom half of the Chalice's stem was also enlongated from what would have been a symetrical 6' to about 12'. This was done to accommodate a Celtic Cross which was outlined with blue chalk and facilitated a longer entrance path. The congregation was invited to bring rocks and stones to place on the labyrinth.
